Sixty-eight inmates of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Kano State Command, have successfully passed the 2025 National Examination Council (NECO) examinations.
This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, CSC Musbahu Lawan Knassarawa.
According to the statement, the achievement was recorded under the Centre for Inmates’ Continuity Education with support from the Kano State Government, which sponsored the candidates.

The statement explained that the initiative is in line with the Correctional Service Act, 2019, which emphasizes the rehabilitation and reformation of inmates through education and vocational training. It also reflects the directive of the Controller General of Corrections, Selvester Indidi Nwakuche, urging heads of custodial centres nationwide to enroll inmates in academic and vocational programmes.
The Command added that the Kano State Government has reiterated its commitment to improving the lives of inmates by providing educational opportunities to enable them to reintegrate into society.
The Chairperson of the Prerogative of Mercy, Hajiya Azumi Namadi Bebeje, was quoted in the statement as congratulating the inmates on their success and commending Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his support.
Similarly, the Controller of Corrections, Kano State Command, Ado Inuwa, expressed delight over the inmates’ performance and wished them continued success in their reformation journey.
