The Yobe State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the quality of basic education with the distribution of teaching and learning materials to primary schools across the state.
The distribution exercise, facilitated by the Yobe State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), was flagged off in Damaturu under the 2024–2025 intervention programme.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni to revitalize the education sector following the declaration of a State of Emergency on Education at the inception of his administration.
Governor Buni had emphasized that education remains the foundation of sustainable development and a critical tool for driving socio-economic progress. He noted that strengthening primary and secondary education would provide a solid foundation for future generations and accelerate the state’s development agenda.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Abba Adam Idris, urged education secretaries from the 17 local government areas to ensure the judicious use of the materials for the benefit of pupils and teachers.
He said the materials were provided to enhance teaching and learning outcomes, improve classroom delivery, and create a more conducive learning environment in public schools across the state.
