Powerful Cup Reaches Semi-Final Stage as Quarter-Finals Conclude

The 2026 Powerful Cup football tournament has entered a decisive stage following the completion of the quarter-final matches, with teams representing major markets across Kano State continuing to battle for the coveted title.

The competition, sponsored by Powerful Vehicle in collaboration with Luyan, has attracted significant attention from football enthusiasts and members of the business community, serving as a platform to promote unity, friendship and healthy competition among traders in the state.

Imran Muhammad Khamis, Publicity Secretary of the Organising Committee disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen today.

According to Imran, in one of the quarter-final fixtures played on Saturday, Kofar Wambai 3 defeated Farm Centre 3–1 in a thrilling encounter. The victory secured Kofar Wambai’s place in the semi-finals after an impressive display throughout the match.

Another crucial quarter-final clash took place on Sunday at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kofar Mata, where Kofar Ruwa faced Wafa Market. The match, which kicked off at approximately 5:15 p.m., was fiercely contested, with both sides demonstrating determination and skill.

After regular time failed to produce a winner, the match was decided through a penalty shootout. Kofar Ruwa emerged victorious, ending Wafa Market’s campaign and booking a place in the next round.

With the conclusion of the quarter-finals, teams representing Sabon Gari, Singer, Farm Centre, Kasuwar Rimi and Wafa Market have all exited the competition.

Attention now shifts to the semi-final stage, where fans are anticipating more exciting encounters. One of the most anticipated fixtures will see Kwari Market take on Kofar Wambai in what is expected to be a highly competitive contest featuring some of Kano’s finest market football talents.

Organisers of the tournament stated that the primary objective of the competition is to strengthen relationships among traders, encourage community cohesion and promote sporting activities within Kano State.
