The governorship candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kano State and former Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has challenged Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to produce concrete evidence backing allegations that local government funds were channelled to him through his son, Mujahid Aminu Abdussalam.
The challenge came in response to claims reportedly made by the spokesperson to the Kano State Governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, who alleged that funds from local government councils were diverted and routed to Gwarzo via his son.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Gwarzo dismissed the allegations as unfounded and described them as a deliberate attempt to damage his reputation.
“The allegations are mere figments of the Governor’s imagination lacking any basis,” the statement said.
“We therefore categorically challenge the accuser to provide credible and verifiable evidence to substantiate these callous claims. Mere accusations, no matter how often repeated in the media, do not amount to proof.”
Gwarzo maintained that his public service record has consistently been guided by transparency, accountability, and adherence to the rule of law.
He insisted that no credible evidence had been presented linking him to any diversion of public funds.
The former deputy governor further expressed confidence that the truth would eventually emerge, urging members of the public to disregard what he described as politically motivated allegations.
He also reiterated that he remains committed to his political principles and is unfazed by what he called attempts to undermine his integrity ahead of future political engagements.
