The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has officially presented Certificates of Return to the 21 newly elected local government council chairmen across the state, marking a formal conclusion of the local government elections.
The ceremony, held in Yola, was presided over by the Chairman of ADSIEC, Mohammed Umar Madagali, who described the exercise as a successful completion of a critical stage in the democratic process. He congratulated the chairmen on their electoral victory and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by the electorate.
Madagali said the occasion symbolized “the triumph of the people’s will, the strength of democratic institutions, and a shared commitment to participatory governance at the grassroots level.” He stressed that the Certificates of Return represent not just documents, but a clear mandate to serve with integrity, accountability, fairness, and dedication to the welfare of the people.
He commended security agencies, electoral officials, political parties, observers, and other stakeholders for ensuring a peaceful, credible, and successful election. According to him, their collective efforts contributed significantly to the integrity of the process.
The ADSIEC chairman urged the newly elected officials to see their victory as a call to selfless service, noting that the expectations of citizens are high and the challenges before local communities require visionary leadership, inclusiveness, transparency, and commitment to sustainable development. He further encouraged them to deepen unity, promote peace, and prioritize the collective interest of their respective councils.

Speaking on behalf of the elected chairmen, the Chairman of Michika Local Government Council, Hon. Paul Tumba, expressed gratitude to the commission and the people for the opportunity to serve, assuring that they would implement programmes that directly impact the lives of the populace.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Yola North Local Government Area, Hon. Jibrin Ibrahim Jimeta, thanked his constituents for re-electing him for a second term. He said his administration would focus on consolidating existing programmes and strengthening development initiatives, while maintaining an open-door policy that encourages constructive criticism and public engagement.
Similarly, the Chairperson of Toungo Local Government Council, Hajiya Hauwa Ahmadu, pledged to prioritize women and youth empowerment, adding that she would utilize the mandate to transform the border council for the benefit of residents.
