The Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS) has called on young people across Kano State and Nigeria to celebrate the forthcoming Eid-ul-Adha peacefully and responsibly.

In a statement issued by the Executive Director of YOSPIS, Zainab Nasir Ahmad, the organisation congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the Islamic festival and urged youths to uphold values that promote unity, peace, and tolerance.

According to the statement, Eid-ul-Adha represents sacrifice, compassion, obedience, and love for humanity, stressing that the celebration should reflect the true teachings of Islam.

YOSPIS warned against activities capable of threatening public peace and safety, including violence, thuggery, reckless driving, drug abuse, hate speech, and other social vices often associated with festive periods.

The organisation encouraged young people to use the celebration as an opportunity to strengthen community relationships, support the less privileged, and contribute positively to society.

“YOSPIS calls on young people across Kano State and Nigeria at large to embrace the values of peace, tolerance, unity, and responsibility throughout the celebrations,” the statement said.

The group also appealed to parents, religious leaders, community stakeholders, and security agencies to continue guiding youths towards peaceful conduct during and after the festivities.

It reaffirmed its commitment to youth development, public health advocacy, and the promotion of social harmony across communities.

“As an organisation committed to youth development, public health advocacy, and social harmony, YOSPIS remains dedicated to promoting responsible citizenship and building safer communities for all,” the statement added.

The organisation further wished Muslims a peaceful, safe, and joyful Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
