Police Arrest Two House Trespass Suspects, Recover Stolen Items in Damaturu

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with a burglary and theft at Red Bricks Housing Estate, Damaturu, and recovered stolen household items.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.

He said operatives of the ‘B’ Division, Damaturu, arrested the suspects on August 7, 2026, at about 1400hrs, following a report of a burglary and theft incident that occurred at the estate about two weeks earlier.

According to him, intelligence-driven investigation led to the arrest of the suspects, who later confessed to the crime during interrogation.

The suspects were identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, 27, and Ayuba, 23. Both are residents of the same address.

Items recovered include one 50-inch Samsung Smart TV, three sets of bedsheets with duvets, and one large carpet.

SP Abdulkarim said the recovered items have been documented and kept in the Police Exhibits Room, while the complainant has identified and confirmed ownership of the items.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, PSC, mni, charged officers and men of the Command to remain proactive, respond promptly to distress calls, and sustain intelligence-led policing.

CP Jibrin reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring that perpetrators of crime are brought to justice.

The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue to uncover other aspects of the offence and possible accomplices.

The Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to the Police or other security agencies, stressing that timely information is critical to crime prevention and public safety.
