The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Gombe State has deployed 720 personnel to ensure a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration across the state.

State Commandant, Jibrin Idris, disclosed this in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSC Buhari Sa’ad, ahead of the Sallah festivities.

He said the deployment forms part of proactive measures aimed at maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property, as well as safeguarding critical national assets during the festive period.

According to him, officers and men of the corps have been strategically positioned across the 11 local government areas of the state, with special attention given to Eid prayer grounds, emirate councils, major highways, markets, motor parks, shopping centres, recreational centres, and other public places expected to witness large gatherings.

The commandant explained that specialised units of the corps, including the Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal Squad, Disaster Management Unit, Rapid Response Squad, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) Unit, as well as the Intelligence and Investigation Department, have also been mobilised to strengthen security operations across the state.

“Our personnel have been directed to remain proactive, visible, and responsive throughout the festive period to ensure residents celebrate in a peaceful atmosphere,” Idris stated.

He added that surveillance and routine patrols around critical infrastructure had been intensified to prevent vandalism, theft, and other criminal activities often associated with festive periods.

The commandant noted that the security arrangement was intelligence-driven and in line with the directive of the NSCDC Commandant-General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to guarantee a safe and secure celebration for residents.

He urged members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by obeying traffic regulations, avoiding overcrowding, and promptly reporting suspicious movements or activities to security operatives.

Idris congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration and urged residents to pray for peace, unity, and progress in Gombe State and Nigeria.
