Kano Hisbah clears air on CG Daurawa’s alleged resignation

Kano, Hisbah, Daurawa, alleged resignation

The Kano State Hisbah Board has dismissed reports of the resignation of its Commandant-General, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa.

The Board’s Deputy Commandant-General, DCG, Dr. Mujahid Aminundeen, on Monday  debunks the reports.

Earlier, the alleged resignation of Sheikh Daurawa went viral on social media following the arrest, prosecution, and later release by ‘court’ of a popular tiktoker, Murja Ibrahim Kunya, in Kano state.

In the audio clip sent to ClocwiseReports DCG Aminundeen, who spoke in Hausa, said, “I want to reiterate to our people that Al-Sheikh, Al-Imam, Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa is still the Commander-General of the Hisbah Board. He has not resigned. He is still in charge. Probably, some elements want to use the rumours to do something cynical. He is still in his position and has continued to carry out his duties.”

The popular Kano Islamic cleric was reappointed as the Commandant-General of the Kano Hisbah Board by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Daurawa is leading the board for the third time, having previously served two terms under former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and the first term of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

In 2018, he announced his resignation as a result of disagreements between the two former governors, Kwankwaso and Ganduje.

The Hisbah boss is widely regarded as having played a significant role in the success of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the previous general elections.
