Kano Guber: Supreme Court Fixes Friday For Judgement

The Supreme Court has scheduled Friday, January 12, 2024, for judgment in the governorship dispute of Kano State between the APC and NNPP.

Abba Kabir Yusuf, a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), was declared winner of the Kano State governorship election held on 18 March by Nigeria’s electoral commission, INEC.

However,  the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenged the outcome of the election, alleging electoral malpractices and asking its governorship candidate at the poll, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna be declared winner of the election.

The Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal and the Court of Appeal in Abuja upheld Mr Gawuna’s case and nullified Governor Yusuf’s election.

Dissatisfied with the Appeal Court judgment, Abba Kabir Yusuf proceeded to the Supreme Court.

A senior counsel in the matter told SOLACEBASE on Wednesday night that the apex court sent to the parties in the governorship appeal this evening.

According to the counsel, the court directed that each party should not have more than two Lawyers in attendance
