A high-powered delegation from the Federal Government of Nigeria has arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to participate in the funeral rites of the late elder statesman and business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Dantata.
This was made known on Mondayby the special assistant to the honourable minister of information and national orientation, Rabi’u Ibrahim.
Dantata, one of Nigeria’s most prominent industrialists, passed away on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, at the age of 94. His remains have been transported to Madinah, the Islamic holy city, where he will be laid to rest later today (Monday), in accordance with Islamic rites.
The delegation, which departed Nigeria late Sunday and arrived in Madinah in the early hours of Monday, is led by the Minister of Defence and former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar. It also includes the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN); Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Honourable Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.
Accompanying them are respected Islamic scholars such as Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, and Khalifa Abdullahi Muhammad, the Imam of Dantata Mosque in Abuja.
The Nigerian delegation is working closely with the Nigerian Consulate General in Jeddah, led by Ambassador Muazzam Ibrahim Nayaya, to finalize arrangements for the burial.
Alhaji Aminu Dantata was widely regarded as a towering figure in Nigeria’s business landscape and a generous philanthropist whose legacy spans decades.
