Art Initiative Rewards Talented Students in Kano

The Herwa Heart of Art Initiative honored the artists with prizes in order to encourage their innovation.

Professor Aliyu Muhammad of Ahmad Bello University, Zaria, an expert in design, led the distribution of the prizes on Monday in Kano.

Prof. Muhammad drew the attention of the students and the community to the talent they have, saying that it is good that they use it for the development of the country.

“Art is not just an expression of emotion but also a medium for communicating ideas. It can act as therapeutic relief, a conduit for self-expression, or simply a way to appreciate life’s beauty. Through art, we can chronicle history, embody societal values, and comment on political or social events.”

“It evokes feelings, from joy and sorrow to anger, creating a bridge of understanding between diverse groups of people. By transcending languages and cultures, art becomes an invaluable asset in fostering unity and peace.”

He also commended Hajja Khaltume Gana, the founder of the Herwa Heart of Art Initiative, for her efforts to encourage young people.

In a remark, Professor Aliyu Yakuma urged parents to continue and encourage their children to learn art and design.He added that art and design are professions that will bring income to anybody who takes them as a business, and they could be used to symbolize peace, love, and union.
