A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, has criticized the Kano State House of Assembly for passing a bill on Tuesday to create second-class Emirates in the state, calling it a violation of the law.

He stated that the Federal High Court in Kano has already ordered all parties involved in the ongoing Kano emirship tussle to maintain the status quo.

Dr. Kwankwaso made these remarks on Tuesday in Kano during an interview with ClockwiseReports. He emphasized that, legally, Kano still has only five first-class emirs and that there is no provision for second-class emirs in the state.

“Even though I am not a lawyer, our laws clearly indicate that the case is in court, and we still have five first-class emirs,” he said. “What the House of Assembly did, in my opinion, is a waste of time. They must wait for the court judgment on this issue.”

He added that even if the Kano State House of Assembly creates second-class emirs, the people of Rano, Karaye, Gaya, and Bichi will never be happy with the law.

“The people of Rano, Karaye, Gaya, and Bichi will never be happy with this law because it downgrades the emirates, reduces their power and influence, and is an insult to them.”

Dr. Kwankwaso also accused Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of destabilizing Kano State and trying to undermine it.

“Kwankwaso is the enemy of Kano. He always wants to take Kano down and refuses to let the current governor do the right thing. Even though we know Abba Kabir Yusuf is a puppet, it’s Kwankwaso who is controlling him. We can even say Kwankwaso is the governor, hiding behind the scenes to rule and deceive Kano.”

Commenting on the motion moved by Kawu Sumaila in the House of Representatives for the creation of Tiga State in Kano, Dr. Kwankwaso expressed his support, viewing it as another opportunity for the APC to govern Kano.

“The motion moved by Kawu Sumaila is a good one, and I am happy with it. Once the motion passes the third reading in the House of Assembly, there will be another election in Kano, and the APC will definitely win because the people of Kano are very angry with the NNPP administration.”
