Anambra Govt Vows Justice Over Attack on Chief of Staff Convoy

The Anambra State Government has condemned the attack on the convoy of the Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, describing it as an assault on the state’s peace, security, and democratic order.

The incident occurred on Sunday night, May 31, 2026, between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. along the Orumba North–Awka South border while the official was returning from duty.

In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation, Dr. Law Mefor, the government confirmed that four persons were killed during the attack and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

He said security agencies have launched investigations and are working to track down those responsible, assuring that justice will be served.

The government described the incident as isolated, noting that it came after over a year of relative peace in the state, and reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining security and eliminating crime.

Officials added that the attack would not weaken ongoing efforts to maintain law and order across Anambra State.
