AMG Foundation Pledges Support for Kano Open Government Partnership

The Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the implementation of the Kano State Open Government Partnership (OGP) State Action Plan aimed at advancing transparent, accountable, participatory, and technology-driven governance in the state.

The commitment was made by the Chairman of AMG Foundation, Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, during a courtesy visit by the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Kano State on Open Government Partnership (OGP), Hon. Musaddik, and members of the Kano OGP Secretariat to the Foundation on Tuesday, 7th July, 2026.

As part of its support, AMG Foundation pledged to collaborate with the Kano OGP Secretariat in implementing key activities outlined in the State Action Plan. These include organizing a Media Parley to engage media practitioners on the objectives and activities of the OGP as well as the forthcoming OGP Steering Committee elections, supporting capacity-building training for members of the OGP Secretariat, and advancing the Open Youth Agenda.

Speaking during the visit, the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor on OGP, Hon. Musaddik Kabir Adam, commended AMG Foundation for its outstanding contributions to the development of Kano State through its various health, governance, and community development interventions.

Musaddik provided an overview of the Open Government Partnership, highlighting its vision, objectives, governance structure, and implementation framework.

He explained that the OGP promotes collaboration between government and non-state actors to strengthen governance through transparency, accountability, citizen participation, and innovation. He also outlined the implementation architecture of the initiative, emphasizing the roles of the Steering Committee, Technical Working Group, and the Secretariat in coordinating the implementation of the Kano State OGP Action Plan.

During the engagement, the AMG Foundation team also expressed its readiness to work closely with the OGP Secretariat in reviewing and implementing the State Action Plan, supporting stakeholder consultations, facilitating community engagement, and promoting public awareness of OGP initiatives across Kano State.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, inclusive governance, and effective public service delivery for the benefit of the people of Kano State.
