Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has visited Bin Mper Community in Kombun District of Mangu Local Government Area following the deadly attack on the community on August 18, 2026.

The attack reportedly claimed several lives and left others injured.

Speaking during the visit, Governor Mutfwang described the incident as barbaric, senseless and unacceptable, while commiserating with the bereaved families and the affected community.

He said the attack was not only against the community but also a direct affront to him and the Plateau State Government’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

“This is not an attack on the community alone; it is an attack on me.”

Mutfwang assured residents that his administration would strengthen existing security measures and adopt additional strategies to prevent further attacks on vulnerable communities.

He said security agencies had already commenced investigations, noting that some suspects had been arrested, and assured the people that the matter would be pursued to its logical conclusion.

The Governor also assured residents that they would not be forced from their ancestral lands.

“We will do everything within our powers to ensure that you remain on your land. Nobody will take over your land,” he said.

He also visited the Mishkagham Mwaghavul, Da John Putmang Hirse, to commiserate with the traditional institution, bereaved families and the wider Mwaghavul community.

The traditional ruler thanked the Governor for identifying with the people in their moment of grief, describing the attack as senseless and deliberate.
