Kano State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, attended the inauguration of the newly elected executive members of the National Qur’an Memorizers Association held at the National Mosque Conference Hall in Abuja.
The event also featured the presentation of awards to individuals who have distinguished themselves through their commitment to promoting Qur’an memorization and supporting Qur’anic schools and memorizers across Nigeria.
During the ceremony, the Deputy Governor received an Award of Honour on behalf of Governor Yusuf in recognition of the administration’s unwavering commitment to the service of the Holy Qur’an and its continued support for Qur’an memorizers and Qur’anic schools.

Garo also presented honorary awards to several distinguished personalities from across the country in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the advancement of Qur’anic education and the welfare of Qur’an memorizers.
Among the award recipients were Dr. Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi (Katikan Sokoto) – Minister of Labour and Employment, the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idris; representative of Makarantun Daular Usmaniyya, Hon. Balarabe Shehu Kakale; and Dr. Umarun Kwabo A.A. Jarman Sokoto, who was represented at the ceremony, alongside other eminent personalities from different parts of the country.
The ceremony attracted prominent Islamic scholars, government officials, traditional and community leaders, as well as key stakeholders in Qur’anic education from across Nigeria, who gathered to witness the inauguration and celebrate individuals contributing to the development of Qur’an memorization in the country.
