CITAD Trains PWDs in Kano on Soft Skills for Employability

The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has successfully empowered Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Kano by providing essential soft skills, aiming to enhance their employability.

The training, held on Wednesday in Kano, attracted PWDs committed to acquiring new skills for self-independence and aspiring to become employers.

Speaking at the event, CITAD’s Executive Director, Engr. Y.Z. Ya’u, represented by Buhari Abba, emphasized that the initiative aims to bridge the employment gap for PWDs in Kano State, equipping them with crucial skills for workplace success.

He said that the training includes vital soft skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Mr. Abba highlighted the importance of these skills in enabling PWDs to compete effectively in the job market.

“This program is crucial as it prepares our youth to evaluate organizations or institutions, helping them identify recruiters’ requirements related to skills and attributes. It also equips them to anticipate likely interview questions and learn effective approaches to answering different types of interview questions,” Mr. Abba said.

Malam Hamza Aminu Fagge, the Coordinator for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) at CITAD, praised the Center’s dedication to empowering PWDs, noting that this endeavor has the potential to significantly improve their lives.

“By providing them with the necessary skills and resources, CITAD is helping PWDs achieve their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society.”

During the workshop, Malam Ahmadu Adamu, Business Manager at the Kano ICS office, discussed essential skills for kickstarting a career and succeeding in job interviews.

Dr. Bashir Abdulhameed from Jigawa State Polytechnic covered topics such as online job search tools, community support, and efficient job placement tactics.
