The Plateau State Red Cross Society in Jos North has trained 45 dedicated volunteers to combat Mpox.
A two-day training program was conducted to equip volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge to address the emerging health crisis.

ClockwiseReports reports that the volunteers were trained on proactive measures to combat the threat of Mpox in the region.
Speaking at the event, the Plateau State Branch Secretary, Hussaini Magaji, emphasized the crucial role of Red Cross volunteers in community health.
He urged them to fulfill their duties diligently, stating, “This training is a privilege. What you’re going to do is a community service, and it is only God who will reward you. Therefore, I urge you to make use of the knowledge acquired during the training.”

Adama Abdoul, the Nigerian Red Cross Program Manager for Community Health, highlighted the importance of community sensitization and preventive measures.
He added that the organization plans to distribute printed materials and personal protective equipment (PPE) to volunteers to facilitate their outreach efforts.

Lillian Ma’adaki, Assistant Principal Media to Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, encouraged the volunteers and urged the community to support their efforts.
