The statement reads, “A doctor, diligently performing duties at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital’s emergency unit, was physically assaulted by a patient’s relative.”

“It is worthy to note that healthcare workers have demonstrated unwavering patriotism by choosing to remain in service despite limited resources and poor working conditions. It is disheartening that these selfless health workers, who have not pursued opportunities in more favorable environments, are now facing physical assaults from the very public they have committed to serve.”

“This unfortunate incident underscores the urgent need for society to appreciate the sacrifices made by health workers and to recognize the critical role they play in maintaining a functional healthcare system.”

“In the prosecution of this case, I will not relent until the perpetrator of this heinous act is brought to justice.”
