Federal University Kashere marked the second anniversary of its radio station, FUK Radio 89.1 FM, with a ceremony held on Thursday at the university.
In his keynote address, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Umaru A. Pate, expressed gratitude to God for witnessing the remarkable milestone.

He commended the leadership of the radio station and the university community for their collective effort in elevating the station to its current status.
During the event, Professor Pate presented a paper on the evolving dynamics of broadcasting in Nigeria. He emphasized the significance of responsible journalism and cautioned against the spread of fake news.
“Fake news is becoming rampant everywhere—on social media and even in some irresponsible newspapers and media outlets. I urge you to practice responsible journalism and adhere strictly to the ethics of the profession,” he said.

The station manager, Malam Hassan Kwami, expressed his appreciation to the Vice Chancellor for his unwavering support.
“Without the Vice Chancellor’s support, the station would not have achieved this level of success,” he noted, commending the Vice Chancellor’s exemplary leadership.
In his remarks, the Vice Chairman of the Kashere Community Association, Babangida Bala, lauded the radio station’s positive impact on the community.
“The radio station has been a game-changer for the Kashere community. Its programs have educated the public and provided a platform for local voices to be heard,” he said.

As a token of appreciation, O2 Mai Warwaso, the leader of the FUK listeners, presented the Vice Chancellor with a customized polo jersey. He praised the Vice Chancellor for his dedication and hard work in supporting the station.
The event featured a lecture, a stage play, and the presentation of awards to students and lecturers in recognition of their contributions. It was attended by dignitaries and prominent members of the community.
