Kano Neighbourhood Watch Corps Gets 1,000 Jackets, Helmets

The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining peace, security and stability across the state through continuous support and strengthening of security agencies.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Kano State Security Neighbourhood Watch Corps, Yusuf Abubakar Ibrahim, dated August 12, 2026.

According to Yusuf, the Commander General of the Kano State Security Neighbourhood Watch Corps, Lt. Col. Aminu Yusuf Abdulmalik (Rtd.), stated this during the distribution of 1,000 fragmented jackets and 1,000 helmets to the 44 Local Government Commands of the Corps at its headquarters.

The Commander General, who was represented by the Director of Operations, Habibu Balarabe, said the distribution was part of ongoing efforts to enhance the operational capacity, safety and effectiveness of personnel deployed across the state.

He said the provision of the protective equipment demonstrated the commitment of the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to creating a safe environment for residents and equipping security personnel to effectively discharge their responsibilities.

According to him, the equipment would improve the safety and visibility of personnel involved in routine patrols, intelligence gathering, community engagement, crime prevention and other security operations.

The distribution covers all 44 Local Government Commands, with the eight metropolitan local governments receiving 50 jackets and 50 helmets each, while the remaining commands receive 540 units of each item, distributed at 15 units per local government.

He said the remaining 60 units each of jackets and helmets had been retained at the agency’s headquarters for operational and administrative purposes.

The Commander General charged all commanders and personnel to make judicious use of the equipment and remain professional, disciplined and committed to their responsibilities.

He also urged them to strengthen collaboration with other security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders and members of the public to facilitate timely information sharing and prevent criminal activities.

He assured residents that the Corps would continue to support the state government’s peace and security agenda through sustained patrols, intelligence-led operations, community engagement and collaboration with sister security agencies.
