The Association of Northern Youths has called on the Kaduna State government to launch a full investigation into the alleged assault of Kano-based politician, Abdul Majeed Dan Bilki, by Nigerian Police Officers.
The incident reportedly occurred following Mr. Dan Bilki’s criticism of Kaduna Governor, Uba Sani.
National Coordinator of the Association, Mukhtar Dauda Raula, made the demand on Saturday in Kano.
He condemned the act as “an abuse of power by those in authority” and called for “appropriate punishment” for those responsible.

“This incident should serve as a lesson to all security personnel and politicians who misuse their power to silence dissenting voices,” Mr. Raula stated.
“We live in a democracy, not a military dictatorship. The government must allow free expression of concerns by the opposition, while also reminding them to stay within the bounds of the law and avoid personal attacks.”
The Association further urged the Federal Government to address the nation’s pressing economic issues. “The rising cost of living, soaring unemployment rate, and increasing poverty clearly demonstrate that current economic strategies are not effective.”

Mr. Raula emphasized. “The hardship faced by our people is undeniable. It’s high time for the Federal Government to develop a sustainable and effective solution to our economic crisis. We, the citizens, deserve better. We call on the government to take immediate and concrete steps to alleviate the economic burdens on Nigerians.”
The Association also expressed its deep concern regarding the recent removal of Senator Ali Ndume from his chairmanship position by the Senate. “Senator Ndume’s removal for speaking truth about the President is a troubling sign for our democracy,”
Mr. Raula declared.
“Such actions undermine the core principles of respect and accountability that are essential for any society. Instead of siding with him, his colleagues chose to prioritize party loyalty. We acknowledge the potential controversy surrounding his statement, but we urge the Senate and all progressive members of the National Assembly to revisit this matter and reinstate Senator Ali Ndume to his rightful position.”
