The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has inducted 111 pioneer nursing graduates of Maryam Abacha University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano, into the nursing profession following their maiden induction and oath-taking ceremony.

The ceremony, held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the Professor Abubakar Adamu Rasheed Twin Theatre, marked a significant milestone for the university’s School of Nursing.

Speaking after administering the oath, the Registrar of NMCN, Dr. Alhassan Ndagi, congratulated the graduates and urged them to uphold the ethical standards of the profession by protecting the dignity, safety and well-being of every patient under their care.

Ndagi encouraged the newly inducted nurses to remain committed to professional excellence through further education, continuous professional development and the adoption of technological innovations in healthcare delivery.

He also cautioned them against unethical conduct, particularly on social media, stressing the importance of maintaining professional standards both within and outside healthcare facilities.

The registrar explained that the inductees had been certified by the council to practise nursing after taking the oath, subject to completing the mandatory one-year internship at an accredited health facility in Nigeria.
