President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 persons into the boards and leadership of 10 federal agencies and commissions, appointing former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose as chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
The appointments, announced in a statement on Monday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, also named retired Major General Junaid Bindawa as chairman of the National Salary and Wages Commission.
According to the Presidency, all the appointments take immediate effect.
Fayose, Bindawa lead new appointments
Mr Fayose will head the board of the Rural Electrification Agency alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as members and non-executive directors. The agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors will complete the board.
For the National Salary and Wages Commission, President Tinubu appointed Major General Bindawa as chairman and former Lagos lawmaker, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, as secretary.

Other appointees to the commission include Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo), Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna), Dr Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
The President also redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, previously Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund, as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.
NPC, NBET, others get new heads
President Tinubu appointed Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET), and Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Engineer Julius Oloro was also named Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), replacing the late Dr A.R. Kamal.
The President constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission with Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman. Other members are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
Also appointed was Shuni Muhammad Dahiru as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was earlier reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund.

To fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mathias Byuan, the former Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority, President Tinubu appointed economist and legal scholar Gisaor Vincent Iorja as his replacement.
The Presidency said the appointments are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the leadership of strategic government institutions and improve service delivery across key sectors.
