The Yobe State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate operating in the Gujba Local Government Area, recovering 26 stolen goats in the process.
According to a press statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkareem, the operation began on July 7, 2026. The Gujba Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress report that armed men had abducted Idi Musa from Kolmamaji Village, forcibly taking him and his Kasea motorcycle to an unknown destination.
In response, the division immediately mobilized operatives, launching a coordinated search-and-rescue mission alongside intelligence-gathering efforts to secure the victim’s safe release and track down the perpetrators.
On July 10, 2026, the victim successfully escaped from the kidnappers’ hideout and reported to the police. During his debriefing, Musa provided credible information that proved vital to the ongoing investigation.
Acting swiftly on this intelligence, police operatives conducted an operation on July 11, 2026, resulting in the arrest of two suspects: Musa Damuna, 23, and Yusufa Muhammad Bello, 21, both residents of Mutai Ward in the Gujba Local Government Area.

During the arrest, officers recovered 26 goats suspected to have been stolen by the syndicate. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had already disposed of the victim’s motorcycle before law enforcement caught up with them.
The suspects remain in police custody, and authorities have stated they will face prosecution upon the conclusion of the investigation. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to trace the sold motorcycle and apprehend the remaining members of the syndicate who are currently at large.
Following the breakthrough, the Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, commended the operatives and charged the command’s officers to sustain proactive, intelligence-led policing across the state.
He also urged members of the public to continue supporting law enforcement by providing timely and credible information, reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
