Manchester United Agree Deal to Sign Chelsea Midfielder Andrey Santos

By Maryam Shuaibu

Manchester United have reportedly agreed a deal worth up to £50 million to sign Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos, according to multiple British media outlets, although neither club has officially confirmed the transfer.

Sky Sports reported late Wednesday that United had reached an agreement with Chelsea for the Brazilian midfielder and that the remaining formalities would be completed before the move is finalised.

The Guardian also reported that the Premier League clubs had agreed a deal worth about £48 million, after previously revealing Chelsea’s valuation of the player.

According to The Athletic, as cited by TNT Sports, the transfer is valued at £48 million plus £2 million in performance-related add-ons, with personal terms already agreed and Santos granted permission to undergo a medical.

The Times reported that Chelsea negotiated a 10 per cent sell-on clause as part of the agreement, while talkSPORT said the 22-year-old is expected to sign a five-year contract with Manchester United.

Despite the widespread reports, neither Manchester United nor Chelsea has officially announced the transfer.

Chelsea’s official communication channels have yet to confirm Santos’ departure, while Manchester United have not announced his arrival.

Santos joined Chelsea from Brazilian club Vasco da Gama in 2023 before spending loan spells at Nottingham Forest and French side Strasbourg.

The midfielder impressed during his time at Strasbourg under manager Liam Rosenior, earning a return to Chelsea’s first-team squad ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Although he faced competition for a starting place from Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández, Santos made 43 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea last season, scoring three goals.

If the reported transfer is completed, the Brazilian is expected to strengthen Manchester United’s midfield ahead of the new Premier League campaign, subject to a successful medical and the completion of the remaining paperwork.
