KHAIRUN, Kano Health Ministry Sign MoU to Advance Healthcare Education – CLOCKWISE REPORTS

Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kano State Ministry of Health to strengthen collaboration in healthcare education, professional training, research, and service delivery.

The agreement was formalised during a signing ceremony held on Thursday at the Ministry’s headquarters in Kano.

Leading the KHAIRUN delegation, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, described the partnership as a major milestone in the University’s commitment to contributing to the development of the health sector.

Prof. Garba conveyed the appreciation and goodwill of the Muhammad Rabiu Foundation, the University’s Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Senate, and Management to the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, and the Ministry for their continued support and collaboration.

He noted that the agreement reflects the shared vision of both institutions to advance healthcare education and improve service delivery in Kano State.

The Vice-Chancellor also expressed gratitude to the Commissioner and senior officials of the Ministry for their commitment and cooperation, which he said ensured the successful completion of the agreement.

He further acknowledged the contributions of the Dean, Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, Prof. Muhammad Yalwa Gwarzo, and the Registrar, Malam Yusuf Datti, describing their resilience and dedication as instrumental to the successful conclusion of the MoU process.

Speaking during the event, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, welcomed the KHAIRUN delegation and commended the University for recognising the efforts of the Ministry and the Kano State Government in supporting educational and healthcare development.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the University and emphasised the role of private universities in complementing government efforts to strengthen the education and health sectors.

According to him, the partnership is expected to make meaningful contributions to healthcare services and improve societal well-being.

Dr. Yusuf further assured the University that state-owned health facilities across Kano State would be made available to provide clinical training opportunities and practical exposure for KHAIRUN students.

The event concluded with the formal signing of the Memorandum of Understanding by the Vice-Chancellor and the Commissioner, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at promoting excellence in healthcare education, research, and professional development.
