A prominent Kano-based oil marketer and businessman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ahmad, popularly known as Audu Manager, has died at the age of 68.
His son, Surajo Audu Manager, confirmed the death on Wednesday, saying the businessman passed away at the Saudi German Hospital in Cairo, Egypt, after a prolonged illness.
According to the family, arrangements are underway to bring his remains back to Kano for burial.
“The funeral prayer will be held at Jami’ur Rahma Juma’at Mosque in Kano after the Friday congregational prayer. However, if there is any delay in the arrival of the body, the burial will take place after the Asr prayer,” Surajo said.
A notable figure in the oil sector
Audu Manager was widely known in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum industry, where he built a network of filling stations across the country.
Beyond oil marketing, he maintained significant investments in real estate, agriculture and other sectors, establishing himself as one of Kano’s prominent business figures.
Over the years, he became a familiar name in the state’s business community through his involvement in commerce and entrepreneurship.

Burial arrangements
Family members said burial arrangements are ongoing pending the arrival of his remains from Egypt.
He is survived by his wives, children and other relatives.
His death marks the loss of a businessman whose investments spanned the oil, real estate and agricultural sectors.
