As Nigeria joined the global community to mark World AIDS Day, the Community Support and Development Initiative (CSADI) has renewed its call for stronger support systems for vulnerable children and families affected by HIV.
Speaking on Monday during the distribution of books to students at Dandago Special Primary School, as the school celebrated its 90th anniversary in Kano, the Executive Director of CSADI, Hajiya Zainab Ahmed Suleiman (MFR, JP), emphasized that every child—especially those considered vulnerable—deserves protection, care, and inclusion.

“Our programmes involve working with children, vulnerable children, and other categories of young people. You can’t isolate where vulnerable children may be found, and every child is important to society,” she said.
Hajiya Zainab explained that CSADI’s interventions are always designed in the best interest of both the children and their families, noting the significant contribution of the school to human development in Kano State.
“This school has existed for 90 years, and the Kano State Government has produced many children from here. That is why we felt it was important to join the celebration and extend our support,” she added.
The CSADI Executive Director urged the state government, NGOs, and community stakeholders to remain committed to supporting efforts that uplift vulnerable children and families affected by HIV.

“Our message to the government and other NGOs is simple – let us not get tired. We must continue assisting wherever the need arises,” she said.

She noted that World AIDS Day serves as a reminder of the lives lost to HIV and the millions still living with the virus.
Hajiya Zainab also stressed the importance of reducing stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV, calling on families and communities to show acceptance and compassion.
“This day allows us to remember those who have died and those who are still living with HIV—to encourage them to live positively and for their families to accept them. Reducing stigma and discrimination is essential,” she said.
She reaffirmed CSADI’s commitment to strengthening community support systems, promoting awareness, and ensuring that vulnerable children and families receive the help they need.
