The Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria’s (MWAN), Kano state chapter, has urged medical doctors to serve Nigeria and accumulate valuable experience before considering leaving the country.
Dr. Halima Adamu, the association’s chairperson, made this call during the first-quarter general meeting held in Kano on Saturday.

Dr. Adamu emphasized that young doctors should prioritize acquiring essential skills and practical experience before seeking opportunities abroad.
“Working in Nigeria offers numerous benefits, allowing them to serve their homeland while also building a strong foundation for their professional growth.”
She added that the invaluable experience gained through years of practice cannot be bypassed.
‘The association is dedicated to guiding and counseling these young female doctors. They learn how to strike a balance between their professional responsibilities and personal lives, including managing work and maintaining healthy relationships with family and friends.”

During the event, Dr. Binta Jibril Wudil, Chief Medical Director of Khalifa Sheik Isyaku Rabi’u Paediatric Hospital, highlighted the association’s tradition of organizing annual general meetings for educational purposes.
“This year’s focus centered on two critical topics: Healthy Relationships, educating female health professionals about fostering healthy relationships, and Choosing the Right Partner, providing insights into selecting suitable life partners, especially for young doctors.”
“We invited professional doctors with years of experience, as well as doctors who have worked abroad, to share their valuable insights with these aspiring female doctors.’
